FAQ: Differences of the 2 download sets

Why do we offer two different download sets?

There are two different downloadsets from which powerDOCUMENTS can be installed. Both sets contain the same complete version of powerDOCUMENTS. They only differ in the amount of additional software which may be required for installation.

  1. powerdocuments-setup.exe
    This is the smaller set. It contains everything needed to install powerDOCUMENTS. The installation program will check all OS and .NET requirements. If an OS or .NET component is missing or needs to be upgraded the installer will offer to download and install it from the appropriate webaddress.

    Normally this download set should be used except when special requirements make the big set neccessary.

  2. powerdocuments-setup-big.exe
    This is the bigger set. It contains the same version of powerDOCUMENTS as the small set. In addition to powerDOCUMENTS and the installer it contains the .NET Framework redistributable as well.

    All other OS and .NET requirements will be checked by the installation program as well. If an OS or .NET component is missing or needs to be upgraded the installer will offer to download and install it from the appropriate webaddress.

    This download set should be used when one of the following conditions applies:
    • you want to install on multiple workstations which do not have .NET framework installed.
    • you want to install on a computer which does not have internet access.
      Be aware that you should make sure the requirements (except .NET framework) are met, before installing powerDOCUMENTS. Under these conditions the installer will not be able to access the download sites.
