FAQ: Error Popup of Office Installer
Problem
When you open a powerDOCUMENT using document viewer or document editor
the Microsoft Office installer pops up and starts running.
Info
powerDOCUMENTS trys to use the HTML-Editor component included in Internet
Explorer. All the components needed are already installed on the system (by Internet
Explorer). But Microsoft Office does not know about it.
This is a bug in Microsoft Office. See Microsoft Knowledge Base articles
Q304107
and
Q298110
for more information.
WorkAround 1
The best solution is to let Office Installer install whatever it wants to install,
which should solve the problem.
If you can't do that (e.g.:, you don't have the Office CD-ROM available), try WorkAround 2.
WorkAround 2
In case you are not able to use WorkAround 1 (e.g.:, you don't have the Office CD-ROM available),
Microsoft recommends that you use the registry editor (REGEDIT) to make the contents
of following two registry-keys empty (replace it by an empty string):
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{438DA5E0-F171-11D0-984E-0000F80270F8}
\InprocServer32\InprocServer32
(TriEditDocument Class)
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{010E6CBE-FE2B-11D0-B079-006008058A0E}
\InprocServer32\InprocServer32
(TriEditParse Class)
