FAQ: Install programs and database separated

To install programs and database into separate directories follow these steps:
  • First do a normal installation to get access to all neccessary files and programs

  • Create a new folder where the database will be stored.
    All users who shall be able to use powerDOCUMENTS need Write/Update access to the database folder (NTFS-Rights).

    If this folder is to be accessed via a network share a share for this folder has to be created. The sharing permissions of this folder must include change and read.

  • Copy the database file to the new database folder.
    In an unmodified default installation this is 'powerDOCUMENTS.sdb'. The ConfigKey 'dbPath' will show name and location of the database.

  • Adjust/correct configuration in Config.XML.
    The ConfigKey 'dbPath' will always need to be changed.
