FAQ: Installation on Windows NT 4.0
When installing on Windows NT 4.0 special precautions have to be taken:
Before you can start the installation program you have to do the following steps:
- Install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6a
- Install actual version of Internet Explorer (5.01 or better)
You may not need all these steps on every system. But very old and unpatched
systems may need them.
After these steps the installtion set can be used to check the remaining
requirements for .NET applications.
When installing on Windows NT 4.0 the installation program used
to check the .NET requirements does not automatically restart after
reboot. Reboots are sometimes requested by the Microsoft components installed.
There are two ways to avoide / compensate this problem:
- Check all the requirements before installing powerDOCUMENTS
This will ensure that no Microsoft components have to be installed during
the setup of powerDOCUMENTS.
- Restart the installation program manually after each reboot.
If you used the default path for unzipping the install set this
program can be found under "c:\powerDOCUMENTStemp\setup.exe".
